TPMA Assessment
Trainer Performance Monitoring & Assessment
Duration – ½ day
Business scenario
Training is often delivered as an afterthought sometimes by people who are excellent within their role but who may not have the necessary skills to plan and deliver effective training. The new TPMA gives you the opportunity to ensure that anyone delivering training has the appropriate skills to do so. It measures trainers against the nine key skills of the new TPMA programme. The TPMA is the new assessment from the Institute of IT Training (IITT) which leads to the Institutes Certified Training Practitioner Certificate (ICTP) jointly awarded by the IITT and the British Computer Society (BCS) although the nationally recognised qualification is transferable across all sectors of adult education.
Who will benefit?
The Assessment session is targeted at anyone who is experienced in training delivery and is looking to gain a nationally recognised qualification.
Pre-requisites
There are no mandatory pre-requisites but it is recommended that trainers have a minimum of two years experience prior to undergoing their assessment. However, you may wish to think about attending the QTTT Course before booking your assessment.
The Assessment
During the workshop all trainers will undergo an observed assessment, which must meet the nine key skills of the TPMA. The topic will be a subject of your choice (agreed in advance) but must include a lesson plan, introductions, objectives, interactive learning and a summary. It is recommended that this session is approximately 30 minutes in length. With permission this session will be videoed.
The Nine Key Skills
Measure 1 Preparation for a Session
Measure 2 Management of the Learning Environment

Each of the nine competencies is broken down into key performance indicators (KPIs) and delegates are scored from 0 to 4 on each KPI. To be awarded the ICTP certificate the trainer must score at least 3 on every KPI and must average 80% i.e. at least 20% of KPIs must be scored at 4.
