Project 2007 Essential Skills
Course Information
This two day course is designed to introduce delegates to project management software.
Delegates will be able to use Project efficiently and confidently, creating new projects and entering new tasks to help plan, organise and schedule work.
Pre-requisites
Those attending this course should have a basic understanding of the Windows environment and be comfortable with using a mouse.
Course Objectives
- By the end of the course delegates will be able to:*
- Recognise the basic project management concepts.
- Navigate the project manager application and controls.
- Create and manage tasks using the entry table.
- Organise a project into main and sub-tasks using outlining.
- Set and manage tasks and relationships using the Gantt chart.
- Explore network diagram view.
- Utilise the calendar view to manage the project.
- Allocate resources when and where they are most needed.
- Deal with resource groups, resource drive, fixed duration tasks and resource over-allocation.
- Sort and filter the task lists.
- Format the Gantt chart to improve clarity.
- Identify the critical path.
- Enter costs into a project.
- Print the project.
- Produce reports using pre-set designs.
- Explore the methods by which projects can be compared against the baseline.
- Track a project’s progress, including success rates and cost targets.
