Essential Skills for the Computer Novice
This
course is designed to introduce the concepts and facilities used in
everyday working routines. Delegates
will gain confidence in using a mouse and keyboard to navigate the Windows
environment;
composing, sending, reading and responding to e-mail messages; creating and
saving simple Word documents.
This
course is suitable for users completely new to the Windows software or can
be used to provide a thorough insight for those upgrading.
By
the end of the course delegates will be able to:

Recognise
the common components that comprise the Windows interface.

Launch
common office programs.

Control
application Windows and utilise common window elements such as scroll
bars, icons, dialogue boxes and menus.

Recognise
the common components that comprise the Outlook interface.

Read
and respond to incoming mail messages.

Compose,
address, check and send e-mail messages.

Create
and correspond with Contacts.

Recognise
the different elements that comprise the Word screen.

Create,
save and retrieve a document.
-
Edit
text within a document using controlled deletion methods and the Undo
and Redo tools.

Apply
character formatting to enhance the physical appearance of text.

Utilise
the spelling and grammar checking features.

Print
the document specifying the range of pages to print and the number of
copies required.

Navigate
drives and folders.
