HTML 4.0 Introduction

This two day course is designed for users with little or no experience of creating HTML pages and is valuable to those involved with presenting information via the intranet or the World Wide Web, including web developers and content developers.

Delegates will receive a working knowledge of HTML, the markup language used by the World Wide Web. Upon completion of the course, delegates will be able to create and edit basic HTML documents for submission to a web server.

Those attending this course must experience using a computer and web browser. Some experience with word processing and graphics applications would be useful but is not essential.

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Navigate the Internet and the World Wide Web.

  • Understand Web design guidelines.

  • Create a minimal HTML document including basic markup tags, ordered and un-ordered lists.

  • Use special characters, escape codes, titles and forced line breaks.

  • Input headings, horizontal rules and paragraphs.

  • Create in-line images, display images and alternate text for viewers who cannot display images.

  • Link to other resources.

  • Create e-mail links, download links and use anchors to specific sections in documents.
