Navigating and Searching a Database

 

This one day course is designed to introduce database users to the facilities available within Access for extracting information.

Delegates will be able to navigate the database in a controlled manner and extract the required information using simple querying.

Those attending this course should have a basic understanding of the Windows environment and be comfortable with using a mouse.

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Recognise the advantages of storing a database electronically rather than on a paper based system.

  • Navigate the database and records within the database.

  • Perform simple database queries to extract or select records from the database according to specified criteria.

  • Produce reports from tables and queries.

  • Create graphs and charts from databases.

  • Create summary tables or crosstabs from numeric data.

  • Perform more advanced queries using the built in queries within Access.
