Introducing Database Creation
This
two-day course is designed to introduce delegates to the concepts and
functionality of a database exploring the advantages of electronic data
storage.
Attendees
will be confident in recognising the uses for a database and the concepts
of database design. Delegates
will be able to produce forms and reports and utilise the advanced query
facilities.
Those
attending this course should have a basic understanding of the Windows
environment and be comfortable with using a mouse.
By
the end of the course delegates will be able to:

Recognise
the advantages of storing a database electronically rather than on a
paper based system.

Create
and manage simple database tables.

Create
relationships between tables in order that data may be extracted from
more than one table.

Navigate
the database and records within the database.

Perform
simple database queries to extract or select records from the database
according to specified criteria.

Create
summary tables or crosstabs from numeric data.

Perform
more advanced queries using the built in queries within Access.
-
Create
simple forms from tables using the autoform feature.
-
Build
customised forms using additional controls such as lists and option
buttons to make data entry quicker and more user friendly.

Produce
reports from tables and queries.
-
Create
graphs and charts from databases.
